
Dr. Dan McGillivray
Principal Consultant
Dr. Dan McGillivray is a Research Fellow and Adjunct Professor in the Faculty of Engineering and Architectural Science at Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU), where heteaches two graduate courses: Energy Innovation & Entrepreneurship and Responding to Climate Change.
Dan has a B.A., M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Geography and Earth Science from the University of Toronto, as well as a Master’s Certificate in Energy Sector Leadership from York University. His expertise spans clean and climate technologies, energy and the environment, and urban sustainability.
With more than 40 years of experience Dan has held several leadership roles, including:
- Executive Director of the Centre for Urban Energy at Toronto Metropolitan University;
- Managing Director of the Centre for Energy and the Centre for Earth and Environmental Technologies at the Ontario Centres of Excellence (now called Ontario Centre of Innovation);
- Physical Oceanographer and Vice-President at Meteorological and Environmental Planning Ltd., and
- Founder and CEO of Environmental Software Consultants Inc. and Proxima Innovation.
