- Overview
In response to the worldwide trends, the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) adopted additional rules for sustainability reporting by listed firms as a part of its ongoing efforts to improve disclosures on ESG standards. The new reporting format, Business Responsibility and Sustainability Report (BRSR) intends to create linkages between a company’s financial outcomes and its ESG performance. This can make it simpler for regulators, investors, and other stakeholders to acquire an accurate evaluation of overall business stability, growth, and sustainability. It will support further understanding of the present regulatory framework for Business Responsibility and Sustainability Reporting, as well as analyze disclosures made by Indian firms, assurance of various indicators, and discuss best practices followed in BRSR reporting. It will also link the BRSR requirements with other reporting frameworks like GRI.
